"Bill" Seibert Jr.

Waynesville - William Joseph "Bill" Seibert Jr. age 89 of Waynesville passed away September 27, 2013. He graduated from Michigan State University in 1950 with a B.S. in Dairy Manufacturing and received his Masters of Education Degree from East Carolina University in 1966. He spent thirteen years in Dairy Processing Industry in various managerial capacities. In 1963, he joined the N.C. Community College System as head of the Agriculture Department at Wayne Technical Institute. In 1966, Mr. Seibert joined Haywood Technical Institute as Director of Vocational & Technical Education. While in the Community College System, he researched, developed and implemented twelve curriculum programs in the technical and vocational fields, including the Wood Products Sawmill Complex. In 1976, he joined Dayco Corporation in the purchasing department and retired in 1988 as Senior Buyer. Following retirement, he was an instructor in the Adult Basic Education Department at Haywood Community College. Mr. Seibert was a ruling elder at Hazelwood Presbyterian Church and served on the Board of Directors of The Rotary Club of Waynesville. He was an avid model railroader and member of the Board of Directors of the Western North Carolina Model Railroaders' Association. Mr. Seibert was preceded in death by his beloved wife of fifty-three years, Cynthia Seibert. Survivors include his son William Joseph Seibert III of Raleigh NC, his daughter Kay Seibert O'Hara of Atlanta GA; and six grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 3PM on Sunday, October 20, 2013 at Hazelwood Presbyterian Church. The family will receive friends from 2PM until the hour of the service.
