John Nutche Obituary

John "Jack" Nutche Jr. passed away Monday, April 19, 2021, where he resided in Dallas.

He was born on Sept. 6, 1946, in Nesbitt Hospital, Kingston. He was the son of the late Helen and John Nutche Sr., of Swoyersville.

Jack is survived by his wife of 44 years, Susan Nutche; their four children and spouses, Jason and wife, Meghan, Jeffrey, Jonathan and Cynthia Figueroa, Jill and Kyle Williams; grandchildren, Liliana, Florence, Austin, Emilia, Charlotte and Liam; sister, Elaine Nutche; brother-in-law, William Monk; and nieces and nephews.

Jack was an avid collector and self-proclaimed food connoisseur. He once spontaneously chartered a flight to Curacao in hot pursuit of a renowned buffet pictured in a magazine that he was reading during a haircut, or so the story goes. Losing his toe to a rogue bullet never stopped him from being a staunch supporter of the National Rifle Association. He enjoyed hunting all sorts of game and the great outdoors.

Jack was formerly a heavy equipment operator before his health declined. He was a local philanthropist, quick to donate his time and services to members of the community. During his down time, he thoroughly enjoyed kicking back in his La-Z-Boy recliner and being lulled to sleep by the sweet, soft sounds of PBS. His crazy antics will be remembered by many and missed by some.

The family will be hosting a celebration of Jack's life Friday, June 11, at Frances Slocum State Park, 565 Mount Olivet Road, Wyoming, Pavilion 1. Visitors are invited to attend from 2 to 4 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to WVIA or your local PBS station.
