Thomas Frank Jakubiak, 66, of Harrisburg, originally of Hudson, died Friday, Feb. 3, 2017, unexpectedly at his home.

Mr. Jakubiak was born in Wilkes-Barre and was the son of the late Frank and Irene (Liberski) Jakubiak.

He was an attorney for the Pennsylvania State Police and a retired U.S. Naval commander as the Attorney Judge Advocate General's Corps deputy staff judge advocate for the commander in chief.

His bar memberships include the American Bar Association, Pennsylvania Supreme Court, U.S. Court of Military Appeals, Supreme Court of the United States and Federal District of Rhode Island.

He held a Master of Public Administration degree from the University of Oklahoma at Norman, a LL.M., Law and Marine Affairs degree from the University of Washington at Seattle, a Juris Doctor degree from Villanova University and a Bachelor of Arts, Government degree from King's College in Wilkes-Barre, and he graduated from Sacred Heart High School, Plains Township.

His professional memberships include Aquinas Society, Academic Fraternity, Pi Delta Epsilon, Honorary Journalism Fraternity, Phi Alpha Theta Honorary History Fraternity, Who's Who in American Colleges and Universities, Pi Alpha Alpha, Honorary Political Science, and American Academy of Political Science.

He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Holy Rosary Council 869, American Legion, NRA, Hunters and Anglers, Holy Name of Jesus Roman Catholic Church in Harrisburg and St. Joseph's Church in Hudson.

He was an avid hunter, fisherman and baseball fan who was looking forward to retirement this June to have the time to immerse himself in his various hobbies, his family, his friends from the Colonial Lounge, the Knights of Columbus, the American Legion, his office, the coal crackers from Wilkes-Barre and the people he remained close with from around the world. He was a brilliant man who was always willing to share his knowledge, experience, talents and wisdom with anyone who asked.

Mr. Jakubiak is survived by his sister, Karen Gustin (husband Tim), Harrisburg; and his nephew, Jarrad Gustin (wife Bianca), New Jersey.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday in Holy Name of Jesus Roman Catholic Church, 6150 Allentown Blvd., Harrisburg.

Interment will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Hudson, at the convenience of the family.

A visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the church prior to the Mass.
