Regina Kush Obituary

Our Mom got a touch from God to come home with him on Monday, Aug. 10, 2020, and is now dancing with our dad after a brief illness.

Regina was born in Nanticoke on Feb. 14, 1924, the daughter of the late John and Mary Sledbodnik Buczewski. She lived most of her life in the Honey Pot section of Nanticoke until moving to the former St. Luke's Personal Care (currently Allied Center City) four years ago. She attended St. Joseph Grade School and graduated from Nanticoke High School.

Regina worked as a dealer and manager for Stanley Home Products for over 50 years. She was a member of St. Joseph's School Guild, Christian Mothers, the auxiliary of the Knights of Columbus and an officer of the Nanticoke Hospital Auxiliary.

She was the loving and devoted matriarch of our family and will be greatly missed. She had a deep Catholic faith that she passed down to her children. She was a life member of the former St. Joseph Slovak Church, Nanticoke, and currently a member of St. Faustina Parish.

She enjoyed playing cards and was a member of several card club groups. One of her greatest joys was dancing polkas with Dad. She was a fervent watcher of the weekly TV polka party and loved to sing along the polka songs at events at the former St. Luke's personal care (now Allied of Center City).

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Cornelius, whom she missed every day since his death in 2000. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, John and Joseph Buczewski; and Louise Krajewski; her grandson, Robert Welch; and great-granddaughter, Erica Altemose.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Rosemary Welch, Crofton, Md.; Sandra (Jack) Shipkoski, Alpharetta, Ga.; Jeanne (Carl) Kosch, Crofton, Md.; and Raymond (Anne) Kush, Murfreesboro, Tenn.; also her grandchildren, Rachael Altemose, Amy Criste, Paul Shipkoski, Erica Shipkoski, JC Kush; and her great-grandchildren, William and Sara Altemose; and Zachary Shipkoski.

Although her presence will be deeply missed, there is much joy in knowing she is reunited in heaven with Connie and all her family and friends who have gone before her.

The family would like to thank the staff at Allied Center City Personal Care (formally St. Luke's Villa), the Skilled Care unit at Center City and especially Joyce from Erwine Hospice for the care and comfort of our Mom.

A period of visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. in St. Faustina Parish Church, 520 S. Hanover St., Nanticoke, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. with the Rev. James Nash as celebrant.

Burial will be in St. Joseph Slovak Cemetery, Nanticoke.

In keeping with federal, state, and diocese guidelines, those attending the visitation and funeral services are required to wear a face covering and observe social distancing.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to in her name.

Grontkowski Funeral Home, 51 W. Green St., Nanticoke, is handling the details.
