Regina Florence Harcharik Obituary

Mrs. Regina Florence Harcharik, 91, of Dorrance Twp., Mountain Top, passed away Sunday, Sept. 13, 2020.

She was born Feb. 12, 1929, the daughter of the late George and Helen Kovalich, Glen Lyon. She attended Newport Twp. High School and shortly after married her husband, Joseph A. Harcharik, on June 21, 1947. They started their family in Glen Lyon and within a few years built their home in Dorrance Twp., where they raised their three children, Regina, Jerome and Yvonne.

Faith and family were very important to Regina. She was a member of both St. Mary's Help of Christians and St. Jude Parish of Mountain Top. She spent many years as the church organist at St. Mary's Church, was a member of the St. Theresa's Guild and served as treasurer of the Dorrance Twp. Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary Committee for many years. She participated in numerous church picnics, bake sales and other fundraising events. She could always be counted on to lend a hand. She was a great cook and baker and carried on the Slovak traditions, including her homemade pierogis that have been a staple for the family Christmas Eve Vilija dinner for decades.

She adored gathering with family for parties and events and cherished every occasion when relatives would gather together.

Regina was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph A. Harcharik; daughter, Regina M. Engdahl; daughter-in-law, Martha Harcharik; brothers, Clement Kovalich; Sylvester Kovalich; and Joseph Kovalich; sister-in-law, Norma Kovalich; niece, Pamela Monterosso; and great-nephew, Maximillian Monterosso.

She will be greatly missed by her son, Jerome Harcharik, Highland Village, Texas; daughter, Yvonne Sapak and husband, James, Mountain Top; son-in-law, Hans Engdahl, Mountain Top; grandchildren, Marie Moyer and husband, Kevin; James Sapak Jr. and wife, Paula; Dr. Carolyn Engdahl; Brian Sapak; and Drew Harcharik; and great-grandsons, Carson Moyer; Warren and Nolan Sapak. She is also survived by sisters-in-law, Joan Kovalich, Vestal, N.Y.; and MaryAnn Kovalich, Hudson, N.Y. "Aunt Reggie" is also survived by many dear nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews that she always held dear to her heart.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday in St. Jude's Church, Mountain Top.

Interment will follow in St. John the Baptist Cemetery.

Friends may call from 9 to 10 a.m. Friday at McCune Funeral Home, Mountain Top.
