Thomas James Kepping Sr. Obituary

Thomas James Kepping Sr., 71, of Hazleton, passed away unexpectedly, Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2020, at his home.

Born in Hazleton on Dec. 8, 1948, he was the son of the late Harry L. and Maybert Stratford Kepping and was a lifelong area resident.

Tom was 1968 graduate of Hazleton High School and was retired from Carpenter's Union Local 76, Hazleton. He was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, St. Johns. He held regular memberships in the Hazleton Owls Rod and Gun Club, the Educational Circle of Slavonians and the Heights Gun Club. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, who were the love of his life. He attended all of the sporting events and school activities and was often the first one there. He absolutely loved Little League Baseball and was the coach of his son's teams throughout the years. He couldn't wait to watch or travel to Williamsport for the Little League World Series, each August. He also enjoyed NASCAR, hunting and spending time talking with friends.

He was preceded in death, in addition to his parents, by three brothers, Harry, Donald and William Kepping.

Surviving are his son, Thomas Jr. and his wife, Michelle, and their children, Kelcie and Jaxon, Mountain Top; a sister, Judy Horensky, Drums; his former spouse, Stacey Zehner, and her daughter, who he thought of as his own, Kimberlie Brighthaupt and her husband Robert, and their son, Bobby, all of Bloomsburg; and several nieces and nephews.

His funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday from Harman Funeral Homes & Crematory Inc. (East), 669 W. Butler Drive, Drums.

Burial will follow in St. John's Lutheran and United Church of Christ Cemetery, St. John's.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. COVID-19 restrictions of face coverings, social distancing and capacity limits will be enforced at all services.
