Richard J. Lussi Obituary
Richard J. Lussi of Plains Twp. passed away Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2017, in Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Twp.

Born in Wilkes-Barre, he was the son of the late John Lussi and Mary Wanek Lussi. 

He was a member of St. Benedict's Church, Wilkes-Barre. He was a graduate of Sacred Heart High School and retired from Calex Trucking, Pittston. Richard was the co-owner of Plains Electric and Furniture, Plains Twp. Richard was also an usher at the Mohegan Sun Arena and a valet at Geisinger Hospital. 

Richard was a member of the Plains Twp. Lions Club, Plains Twp. Rotary, Plains Twp. Business Men's Club, past president of the Plains Twp. Ambulance Association and member of the Polish American Veterans Club. He was also the first coach of Coughlin soccer and led the team to its first district title. He was also a coach at the Plains Twp. Little League and one of the first founders of the Plains Twp. Soccer Association. Richard was a lector at Sacred Heart Church, Plains Twp.

Richard was an avid sports fan loving all sports, especially Penn State football and all the Philadelphia teams. He loved hunting and fishing and loved his trips to Canada and also Wildwood Crest, N.J., where he would sit and enjoy the beach. Richard loved his family and traveling with them on vacations. 

Richard was preceded in death by his brother, John, and sisters, Patricia Belardinelli and Rita Geer.

Richard is survived by his loving wife, the former Barbara Barbacci; daughter, Maria Brown and her husband, Brian, Plains Twp.; sons, John Lussi (Linda), Pittston; Richard and companion, Paula Murray, Forty Fort; and Nat and companion, Jessica Price, Plains Twp.; seven grandchildren, Dominick, Angelo and Maria Lussi, Emily and Teddy Brown and Allison and Nicholas Lussi; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

The funeral will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday from Corcoran Funeral Home Inc., 20 S. Main St., Plains Twp., with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Benedict's Church, 155 Austin Ave., Wilkes-Barre.

Interment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Plains Twp.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Corcoran Funeral Home. 

Arrangements are by Howell-Lussi Funeral Home, 509 Wyoming Ave., West Pittston.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to St. Joseph's Center, 2010 Adams Ave., Scranton, PA 18509.
