Joan Murphy Obituary
She was born in Chicago, Ill., on Dec. 7, 1926, and was the daughter of the late Oswald and Dorothy Agle Ackerman.
Joan retired as a mail carrier for Harveys Lake Post Office for 23 years. She was an accomplished artist. All of her paintings of scenery, animal portraits and nature were outstanding. Joan was a kind and giving lady who always had a smile on her face and truly enjoyed life.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband, Charles Murphy, and brother, Robert Ackerman.
Joan is survived by sons, Daniel Hanson, Harveys Lake; and Marc Elgaway and his wife, Pam, Reston, Va.; daughter, Mary Elgaway Barrett and her husband, Kevin, Nanticoke; 11 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
A private interment will be held at the convenience of the family in Perrego Cemetery, Harveys Lake, with the Rev. Val Rommel, pastor, officiating.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home Inc., Routes 29 and 118, Pikes Creek.

Deeply saddened to hear of Aunt Joannie's passing. Remember her fondly, always had a smile on her face back in the 1960's when I would see her. A very sweet woman. My condolences to the family. RIP Aunt Joannie.
