Melvin Douglas Fleenor

Melvin Douglas Fleenor, 68, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 4, 2016 at his home in Bean Station.

He was born in Benedict, Virginia, the son of the late Elmer and Charlene Lovell Fleenor. He had lived in Bean Station for 45 years. He was a born again Christian and loved the Lord. He was a member of the Bean Station Worship Center. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Jerry Lynn Fleenor.

He is survived by his son, Michael Fleenor of Knoxville; daughter, Debbie Brooks and husband, Johnny of Morristown; five grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; sisters, Wanda of Dayton, Ohio, Brenda Delph of Morristown and Pat Brewer and husband, Bruce of Big Stone Gap, Virginia; brothers, Gary Fleenor of Troy, Ohio, Chris Fleenor and wife, Nikki of Morristown, Johnny Fleenor and wife, Eula of Morristown; very special friend, Kathy Morgan of Rutledge; many nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

Family received friends on Saturday, Feb. 6 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Sturgill Funeral Home in Pennington Gap, Virginia with services that followed at 8 p.m. with Evangelist Bruce Brewer and Pastor Franklin Allen, pastor of the Bean Station Worship Center, officiating.

Military graveside services will be held on Sunday, Feb. 7 at 3 p.m in Lee Memorial Gardens in Woodway, Virginia by the VFW Post 5715, and other area Veterans and the Virginia Honors Team.

Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home by 2:15 p.m. to go to the cemetery.
