Jerry P. Bohnert

1948 - 2020

Jerry P. Bohnert, age 72, of Topeka, passed away Friday, December 18, 2020 at the Topeka Center in Topeka. Jerry was born March 24, 1948 in Beloit, KS the son of Roy and Lelah (Opplinger) Bohnert. Jerry graduated from Topeka High School in 1967. He served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Korea. He married Cathy Campbell in 1976, they later divorced. Jerry worked at the V.A. Medical Center until he retired in 1996. Jerry enjoyed trains of all kinds. He enjoyed watching trains, was a model railroader and even built a large-sized model and track in his backyard. Jerry is survived by a brother, Kenneth Bohnert of Topeka; one daughter, Heather Harriman; three grandsons and one granddaughter. Jerry and those close to him are grateful for the excellent care he received at the Topeka Center (formerly Manor Care). Graveside services will be Saturday, December 26, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. at the Wallace Cemetery east of Jewell, Kansas. He will lie in state Wednesday, December 23, 2020 from 1:00 - 5:00 p.m. at the Davidson Funeral Home.
