George M. Bardsley, 100, Scranton, Kansas, passed away June 12, 2011, at Brookside Retirement Community, Overbrook, Kansas. George was born October 2, 1910, at Elmont, Kansas, the son of George H. and Maude Fluke Bardsley. He was the last survivor of eleven children born to that union. George attended local Wesleyan Churches and attended local schools. He was a charter member of Teamsters Union No. 696. His life work was farming, truck driving freight, construction and finally the Perry Lake dam. He married Margaret B. Elliott, in 1932. She survives. Other survivors include a daughter, Beverly Peaslee (William); two sons, Rev. George Bardsley (Crystal) and Robert Bardsley (Peggy); 10 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, 10 siblings and two grandsons, Perry King in 1984, and George Bardsley in 1985. Mr. Bardsley was cremated. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 9, 2011, at the United Methodist Church, Scranton, Kansas. Private family inurnment will be in Westlawn Memorial Gardens, Topeka, Kansas, at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the United Methodist Church, 229 S.
