Michael Joseph Glotzbach Obituary
Michael Joseph Glotzbach Michael Joseph Glotzbach, 70, passed away Monday, November 20, 2017, in Topeka, Kansas after a strong and valiant battle with heart disease. He graduated from Mount St. Michael Seminary in 1965 and went on to obtain a graduate degree in 2006 from Aquinas Institute of Theology. He worked at Southwestern Bell for 38 years and retired to work for his church full time. An observant Benedictine Oblate, he was a devoted member of Mother Teresa of Calcutta Catholic Church in Topeka, facilitating the RCIA program there as well as at The Assumption Catholic Church. He volunteered at the Topeka Correctional Facility for 28 years and was active in the Boy Scouts with Troop 172.

Mike was a voracious reader with an insatiable appetite for knowledge. He was an avid Kansas City Royals fan and enjoyed feeding the backyard birds and squirrels and tinkering with gadgets and electronics. Faith and family were everything to Mike. Always willing to lend a hand when needed and with a wealth of wisdom and advice to share, he was a beloved and devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle and friend.

Mike was born February 23, 1947, in Topeka to Herbert J. Glotzbach and Irene M. (Renyer) Glotzbach. They preceded him in death along with his brothers, Patrick Glotzbach and David Glotzbach and his sister, Susan (Glotzbach) Sackman.

Mike married Catherine Sams March 31, 1968; they later divorced. He married his wife and best friend, Caroll (Seeman) Glotzbach on February 4, 1989. She survives. He is also survived by his 5 children; Linda (Michael) DeMiranda of Bolivar, MO, Lisa (Neil)Claspill of Tucson, AZ, Dru (Kori) Finney, Ellen (Walt) Pursell and Vince (Leanne) Finney, all of Topeka, siblings; Ed (Julie) Glotzbach of St. Louis and Barb (Larry) Shipman of Topeka. Other survivors include 15 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.

Family will greet friends from 6:30 to 7:45 p.m. Friday, November 24th, at Kevin Brennan Family Funeral Home, 2801 SW Urish Road, Topeka, KS 66614 where a prayers service will be held at 7:45 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Saturday, November 25th, at Mother Teresa of Calcutta Catholic Church, 2014 NW 46th St., Topeka, KS 66618. Burial will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery.
