William Trahan Obituary

William D. Bill Trahan, 70, Topeka, passed away on Monday, February 7, 2011 at a local hospital. Bill was a member of Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, February 11, 2011. Burial will be at 3:00 p.m. at the Greenwood Cemetery in Clay Center. He will lie in state at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel after 2:00 p.m. on Thursday. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. with a Rosary recited at 7:30 p.m. Bill was born February 5, 1941 in Galveston, Texas, the son of John Curtis and Edna (Dorsett) Trahan. Raised in Texas City, Texas, he graduated from Las Vegas High School in Las Vegas, Nevada. After attending the University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee, he received his Bachelors Degree in Accountancy from the University of Mississippi in 1964. A CPA, Bills entire working career was in the field of income taxation. He gained invaluable experience while working with Arthur Andersen, Price Waterhouse, Deloitte Touche in Tulsa and KPMG Peat Marwick in Topeka, before entering practice in 1989 at Berberich Trahan & Co. Topeka. He retired from active practice in 2004. He was a member of the American Institute of CPAs, the Kansas Society of CPAs, the Oklahoma Society of CPAs, Topeka Lodge #17, the Endowment Committee of Most Pure Heart of Mary Parish, the Topeka Scottish Rite Bodies, Arab Shrine, Kansas Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Topeka Chamber of Commerce, Topeka Estate Planning Council, Topeka Zoological Foundation, Friends of the Topeka Zoo, Kids Voting Kansas and The Energy Advocates of Tulsa. Bill was preceded in death by his son, William Dorsett Trahan, Jr. He is survived by his loving wife, Carol (Fox) Trahan; son Keith Alan Trahan, wife Lee and three grandsons, son Darren Thomas Trahan, brother Curt Trahan, wife Betty and Curts four children, ten grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
