Mrs. Rachel Marchant, 85 of Ridgeland, passed away January 2, 2013. Funeral services are scheduled for 12 noon Saturday, January 5, 2013 at Natchez Trace Funeral Chapel in Madison with interment in Lakewood Memorial Park. Visitation will be Friday from 4-7 PM at Natchez Trace Funeral Home.
Rachel is survived by her love and husband John Allen (Bill) Marchant Sr. of Ridgeland and her son Larry Marchant of Atlanta.
Known for her youthful enthusiasm she and Bill often hosted cookouts, gatherings and family events at their home. Originally from Union she moved to Jackson at 17 where she became a telephone operator. After moving to Ridgeland in 1958 she retired after 30 years with South Central Bell. She often helped Bill in the restaurant business, was active in community affairs and held an office in the 50 Plus Club. She was a member of the Grace Sunday School Class, member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Creative Home Makers and the Telephone Pioneers of America.
Her son John Allen Marchant Jr. preceded her in death in 1997.
She left a sparkle in the lives of all she touched.
