Longtime Jackson resident Rosalie Kraft Addkison, 94, died Wednesday April 25, 2007 at Manhatten Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Visitation will be Sunday, April 29, 2007, 6:00-7:30 pm at Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home in Jackson followed by a Vigil at 7:30 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 am Monday, April 30, 2007 at St. Richard Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Cedarlawn Cemetery.
Rosalie was born on March 30, 1913 in Leake County and was one of seven children of Joseph S. Kraft and Lucy Ann Harkins. She attended a one room school in the St. Anne's community until boarding at St. Francis School in Vicksburg for high school. From there she went to New Orleans receiving her nurse degree from Hotel Dieu.
In 1939 she married William Lake Addkison and had two children, William Lake Jr. and Carolyn Louise. She continued her nursing career working nights as a private duty nurse, and she was an accomplished seamstress making most of her daughter's clothes.
She is survived by two children, two grandsons, and three great- grandchildren.
