Heber Springs, AR

Bill Manning Huddleston Sr. died peacefully at his home in Heber Springs, AR on Monday, April 21, 2014 at the age of 85. Funeral services will be at noon on Saturday, April 26 at Wright & Ferguson Funeral Home, 1161 Highland Colony Parkway, Ridgeland, MS with visitation from 10:30 to noon.

Born in D'Lo, MS on September 23, 1928 to the late William Fleming and Jewel Lucy Manning Huddleston, Bill grew up in Utica, MS and graduated from Utica High School in 1945 where he excelled in multiple high school sports. A graduate of Mississippi State University with a degree in accounting, he later pursued graduate studies at the University of Mississippi and Jackson School of Law. In 1957, Bill moved his family to Jackson, MS to work at what became Unifirst Bank for Savings. He retired as Senior Executive Vice-President in 1990. A member of Woodland Hills Baptist Church in Jackson, he served as a Deacon and the church treasurer. In 2010, he and his wife, Elba, moved to Heber Springs, AR. A dedicated Christian, and a loving husband, father, and grandfather, Bill had a love of life and a spirit of strength that inspired everyone who came to know him. He loved animals of all kinds and was an avid Mississippi State sports fan. A great man in every way, his loss will be felt by all.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Katherine. He is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Elba Hooke Huddleston; his son, Bill M. Huddleston, Jr. and his wife, Louise; his daughter, Julan Huddleston Wood; four grandchildren, Julie Monk and husband, Brent, Candy Bennett and husband, John, Sander Wood and wife, Carrie, and Jennifer Huddleston; and, five great-grandchildren, Ellie and Emma Wood, Leah and Graham Monk, and Sydney Bennett.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Cleburne County (Arkansas) Hospice or the Hospice of your choice.
