Elizabeth Ann "Betty" Posey, 70, of Brandon, MS passed away at her home on Saturday, June 18, 2011. She was surrounded by her loving family. She lost a valiant battle with cancer. Funeral services will be on Wednesday, June 22, 2011 at Coleman Funeral Home 295 Hwy. 7 North, Oxford, MS 38655 at ten o'clock in the morning. Burial will immediately follow at Oxford Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday, June 21, 2011 from 5pm to 9pm at Coleman Funeral Home in Oxford, MS.

Betty was born on November 16, 1940, to Howard and Eddie Mae Davis in Oxford, MS. She grew up in Oxford, graduating from University High School in 1959. She attended the University of Mississippi, pursuing a degree in business. She met her husband of almost 50 years, Eugene Bramlett Posey, during her high school years in Oxford. They later dated after high school, eventually marrying on November 23, 1961. They proceeded to have three children. They resided in Oxford, Memphis, TN, and have been long time residents of Brandon, MS for the past 38 years. She was Director of Human Resources for McCarty-Holman for 22 years, until her retirement. She was President of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority while in Memphis, TN. Betty was a very giving and charitable woman, and volunteered for many organizations in the Greater Jackson Area, including the Mississippi Museum of Art, Toys for Tots, and the March of Dimes. One of her passions was being a volunteer at Crossgates River Oaks Hospital in Brandon, where she received the Volunteer of the Year award in 2009. She always loved to help and give her time to those in need. She also loved to travel and see the world with her husband. She attended Crossgates Baptist Church.

Betty is preceded in death by mother, Eddie Mae Davis, her father, Howard Davis, and her brother, Lawrence "Larry" Davis, all of Oxford, MS. She is also preceded in death by her son-in-law, Steven Craig Lofton, of Ridgeland, MS. She is survived by her adoring husband, Eugene Bramlett Posey of Brandon, MS. She is also survived by her daughter, Cindy Posey Burton and husband Steve Burton of Madison, MS; her son, Jeff Edward Posey and wife Amanda Posey of Little Rock, MS, and her daughter Sharon Posey Lofton of Ridgeland, MS. She leaves behind five grandchildren: Phillip Daniel Burton of Denver, CO; Hannah Elizabeth Burton of Madison, MS; Tyler Peyton Posey of Little Rock, MS; Haley Ryan Burton of Madison, MS; and Lacie Elizabeth Posey of Little Rock, MS.

The family of Mrs. Posey would like to thank the nurses and aides of Sta-Home Hospice Ministries for taking such great care of her while she was at home. A special thank you goes to Ms. Rita, CNA, for her dedication and loving care she gave to Betty during her illness. The family would also like to thank all of her family and friends for their care and concern during this difficult time.

Worked with Ms. Betty at McCarty-Holman for many years. She was a sweet, dear, kind woman. I admired and loved her. I liked the way she was truthful, "to the point". I'll miss her and remember her always. God Bless all of her family and friends.
