Gary Long (1936 - 2019)

Gary Long died Jan. 3, 2019, after a long illness. He was born in El Paso, Texas, on March 9, 1936.
Gary moved to Georgetown with his wife Kathleen Hoeft in 1990. He is survived by his wife and two daughters, Rebecca White of Boulder and Summer Long of Brisbane, Australia; his son-in-law Rick White; and three grandchildren: Kylie, Kaziah and Eli White.
He is predeceased by his first wife, Peggy Hance Long, mother of Rebecca and Summer.
He was an architect, Navy aviator, educator and sexton at Grace Episcopal Church in Georgetown. He taught at Rice University in Houston and at the University of Colorado Denver, where he was the director of the School of Architecture.
A celebration of life service will be held at 1:30 March 2, 2019, at Grace Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Historic Georgetown Inc. or to Grace Episcopal Church.
