ORANGE CITY, Fla. — John Rajcevich, 81, of Florida and formerly of Clinton, IA, died Monday, June 22, 2009 in Orange City, FL. A graveside service will be held at the National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal on Thursday, July 2, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. Visitation will be at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home and Crematory on Wednesday, July 1, 2009 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. He was born April 26, 1928, in Clinton, IA, the son of Mike and Mildred (Peavich) Rajcevich. He married Barb Green September 13, 1958; she preceded him in death April 24, 1996. He retired from the U.S. Navy and was a WWII and Korean War veteran. He was employed as a plumber and pipe fitter after retiring from the Navy. Survivors include his son, Jon Rajcevich of Houston, TX; his daughter, Cindy Diane (Mike) Elsberry of Clinton, IA; granddaughter, Angela (Alan) Lubben and great grandson, Jackson Lubben of Boston, MA; granddaughter, Amanda Shores of Clinton and grandson, Gregory Shores of the Quad Cities; sisters, Dorothy (Ed) Truninger, and Helen (Chris) Martensen both of Clinton, IA; brother, Eli (Phyllis) Rajcevich of Council Bluffs, IA and sister, Mildred Ronnfeldt of Boyne City, MI. John was a best friend to everyone who knew him. He was truly a friend to me and he will be a welcome addition to heaven. He and Nick will finally get back together. God speed.
