Bernard "Turtle" Douglas, 73, of Clovis, NM, died Friday, May 18, 2012, at Clovis Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Clovis. Services will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, May 25, 2012, at First Christian Church with Jon Forrest officiating. Burial will follow at Texico Cemetery in Texico, NM, with full military honors by CAFB Honor Guard. Pallbearers include Randy Osburn, Bryan Austin, Don Hopingardner, Roy Burnett, Adam Loehr, and Stephen Wormington. Honorary Pallbearers will be Andrew Forrest, Stuart Wormington, and his grandsons, David, Jaden, Jaxon, and Emerson. The family will be at 241 Redwood in Clovis.
Bernard was born November 17, 1938, to Waddell and Anna Bell (White) Douglas in Detroit, MI. He retired from the US Air Force in 1978 at Cannon Air Force Base. Bernard married Sharon Self, December 15, 1980, in Clovis, NM. He volunteered as a Girl Scout Leader for over 20 years. He loved his dogs, fishing, gardening, watching softball and horse racing, tap dancing, and was a avid Cowboys fan.
Survivors include his wife, Sharon of the home; five children, Cheryl Douglas, Bernard Douglas, and Bernardo B. (Annette) Douglas of Colorado, Tiffany (Andrew) Forrest of Clovis, NM, and Kimberly (Stuart) Wormington of Clovis, NM; four grandchildren, David Andrew, Jaden James, Jaxon Ty, and Emerson; three sisters, Rose Sparks of Alabama, Jeanette Douglas of Michigan, and Barbara Douglas of Alabama; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers, Waddell Douglas, Phillip Douglas, and Carl Douglas.
The family request memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 1856, Clovis, NM 88101.

Sorry Mr."D" passed away, he was always helpful when he worked supply at cannon. God be with his loved ones.

To the Douglas family I worked with Mr D at Cannon AFB in base supply from Aug 1986- until I left in 1994, he was a very special man and I will never forget him. My name is Tony Anthony, Retired MSgt, rest in Peace Mr D!!!!!!

Sharon, We are so sorry to hear of Bernie's passing. I have fond memories of him and I counting and recounting cookie money several years in a row and him just being there for everything GS related. You and the family are in our prayers.
