Roger Stanford Branson, 62, of Midway, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2014, at Candler Hospital in Savannah after a short illness.
Roger was born Aug. 17, 1951, in Savannah. He was the son of the late Julius and Elsie (Futral) Branson. He had lived in Liberty County for the past two and a half years. Roger was a shrimper by trade and loved the saltwater rivers.
He attended Westside Baptist Church. Roger will be missed by his family and friends.
Survivors are a cousin, Sandra Collette of Midway; three aunts, Effie Branson Oxford, Naomi Branson Harris and Norma Lee Branson Sloan; and numerous other relatives.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 10, at Thomas L. Carter Funeral Home in Flemington.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 11, at Thomas L. Carter Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Mike Buckley officiating. Burial will follow in the Dorchester Cemetery in Midway.
Pallbearers will be Karl Braley, Jeffrey Collette, Thomas Cribbs, Rick Holley, Sean Begg and J.D. Collette. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Stedfast Sunday School Class, James E. Sloan III, Ted Dean and Bob Durden.
Thomas L. Carter Home, Oglethorpe Chapel has charge of arrangements.
