Gum Branch – Daniel Dean Wells, 74, died Monday, December 28, 2020 at his home under the care of his family and GHC Hospice. The native and lifelong resident of Liberty County had worked as a diesel mechanic most of his life but had a talent for repairing anything if it was broken. He was a US Marine Corps veteran of the Vietnam War and served in the National Guard. He was a member of Gum Branch Baptist Church and preceded in death by his parents, Alvin, Sr. and Marie Sikes Wells and siblings, Avis Wisner, and Jiley Wells.
Survivors are his wife of fifty-five years, Margie Shuman Wells of Gum Branch; daughter, Becky Wells of Gum Branch; sons, Bobby Wells and Terry Wells of Gum Branch; sister, Kay Greene of Hinesville; brothers, A. G. Wells of Gum Branch and Wyman Wells of Richmond Hill; five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Thursday, December 31 at 2 PM at Gum Branch Baptist Church with Rev. Gabe Gill officiating. Burial followed in the Joe Deal Cemetery.
Visitation was on Wednesday, December 30 from 6-8 PM at the funeral home chapel.
Active pallbearers were be Carson Wells, Daniel Wells, Jim DeLoach, Joey DeLoach, Sean Morrison, and Josh Wells.
