HINESVILLE - Mrs. Eunice Lee Simpson was born in Liberty County to the late Julius and Martha Perry on Jan. 29, 1924. She passed on Friday, April 13, 2018.
Mrs. Simpson was educated at the Dorchester Academy of Liberty County.
She was a true believer in Jesus and a faithful and devoted member of First Calvary Missionary Baptist Church for over 50 years. She was a faithful member of the church's Deaconess Ministry where she loved to sing and lead devotion services.
She will be remembered at First Calvary for her willingness to serve God with a sweet and humble spirit.
She was a loyal employee of the Liberty County Board of Education until her retirement in 2000.
Mrs. Simpson enjoyed traveling, sewing, cooking, reading and spending time with her family. She will sorely be missed for her sweet spirit and the love she showed to everyone.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Julius and Martha Perry; her husband, John Simpson; sisters, Lola Dixon, Evelyn Harris, Martha Gaulden, and Louise Anderson; and brothers, Jesse, Troy and Charles Perry.
Mrs. Simpson is survived by a loving and devoted family who will cherish many beautiful memories: sons, Frank and John Lee Simpson of Passaic, NJ; daughters, Emma (Donald) Lewis, Cynthia (Levern) Clancy, Melanie Griffin, and Sheila (George) Ford of Hinesville and Lisa Graham of Cedartown; her goddaughter, Lavette Bynum of Riverdale; one sister, Algetha Garner of Green Cove Springs, FL; her special and devoted caregiver and niece, Mary Battle; 17 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren; special friends, Marsha Pedrick and sons, Patricia Jones Taylor, Carrie Harris, Gracie Scott and Robert Spurgeon; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Her wake will be 6-7 p.m. Friday, April 20, at Dorchester Funeral Home in Midway.
Funeral services will be at noon Saturday, April 21, at First Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, 124 Rebecca St., Hinesville.
Interment will be in Macedonia Church Cemetery.
