Walthourville- James Sharon Jones was born January 23, 1955, in Hinesville, Georgia to the late James Jones Sr. and Agnes "Clark" Jones. On Tuesday, November 6, 2018, James transitioned from his earthly home to his heavenly home. He was educated in the Liberty County School system where he graduated from Bradwell Institute in the class of 1975.
James also known as "Bird, Hammer and Jim" became employed by the National Guard Training Center where he later retired after 34 years of employment. After being employed for two years at the National Guard Training Center, Bird decided to join the Georgia National Guard and also retired after 21 years of dedicated service.
James met and married Donna Marie Littles in 1976. James and Donna joined and worshipped at Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church in 2001. He continued to worship there until his death.
James leaves to cherish his memory, his devoted wife of 42 years, Donna Jones of Walthourville, GA; one daughter, Angie (Anthony) Bullard of Hinesville, GA; adopted mother Effie Louise Littles of Claxton, GA; one brother, Timothy Jones (Tina) of Brandywine MD; two granddaughters: Louvett Bullard, of Hinesville, GA and Tymya Bullard of Hinesville, GA; sister-in-laws: Gloria Burton (Rico) of McDonough, GA; Betty Parker, of Jesup, GA; Vickie Littles (Mike) of Claxton, GA; brother-in-laws: Daryl Littles (Rhonda) of Augusta, GA; Charles Littles (Dana) of Charleston, SC; aunts: Rosa Davis of Richmond Hill, GA: Mayona Miller of New York, NY; Jackie Miller of Richmond Hill, GA; Earline Harris of Atlanta, GA; Jackie Miller of Richmond Hill, GA; Verdell Clark of Brunswick, GA; uncles, Herman Teacher of Richmond Hill, GA; Whalan Burton of Savannah, GA and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Visitation is 1-5 p.m. Monday, Nov. 12 at the funeral home. Funeral services are 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13 at Mount. Olive Baptist Church, Walthourville. Eulogist is Rev. Frank Jones. Interment is First Calvary Baptist Church.
