Hinesville – Melvin Elbert Wells, 73, passed away Tuesday, December 4, 2018 at Liberty Regional Medical Center. Born in Long County he had lived in Liberty County for 51 years. He was a US Army veteran serving in the Vietnam War and retired from Interstate Paper with 40 years of service. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church. His siblings, Carrie Mae Wells, Cecil Wells, and Lloyd Wells preceded him in death.
Survivors are his wife, Delia R. Wells of Hinesville; son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Katelyn Wells of Ludowici; sisters, Hazel Stafford and Dale Long of Ludowici and Deleita Ray of Hinesville; brothers, Richard Wells of Ludowici and Edward Wells of Hinesville; grandchildren, Madison, Robert and Logan; great-grandson, Dominic; numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation was 6-8 p.m.Wednesday, Dec. 5 at the church. Funeral services are 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 6 at Trinity Baptist Church in Long County with Rev. Matthew Massey and Rev. Tim Parrish officiating. Burial will follow in the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Glennville.
