Mother Mildred V. Boyd Elder, 88, entered eternal rest on Saturday, December 1, 2018, at her residence in Ludowici. Born in Ludowici, she graduated from Walker High School in 1948 (H.S Diploma), Savannah State University in 1952 (B.S), and the University of Georgia in 1971 (M.S).
She was a member of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church where she served as church secretary for thirty-six years, President of the Deaconess Ministry, Director for the Drama Club Ministry, Editor for the monthly church newsletter, and oratorical coach for the dominating youth orations and great debate team. She was a member of the Hinesville Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority. She served two separate terms as Worthy Matron of Laurel Growth Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star; and one term as Associate Matron of Baxley Order of the Eastern Star, and Prince Hall Grand Chapter. She served as an educator for Long County High School, Texas Central College, Altamaha Technical College, and Savannah Technical College; she retired after 50 years of dedicated service.
Survivors are eight daughters, Dr. Marva DeLoach-Peterson (Manning) of Richmond, California, Dr. Renee (Charles) Woodard of Deerwood, Maryland , Mrs. Toni (Rev. James) White of Huntsville, Texas, Min. Diane (Aubrey) Berry, Ms. Michelle Elder, Mrs. Jennifer (Stanley) Posey and Min. Jeannie (Wesley) Worthy, all of Ludowici, and Mrs. Jessica (Cameriero) Jackson of Atlanta, Georgia; one sister Ms. Verdelle Davis of Ludowici, one brother Mr. Clyde M. Boyd, Sr.,Hinesville; nine grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; four special children, Retha Mae Porter, Mamie Baker, Calvin Cummings, and Martesia Lavant, and several close relative and friends.

Wake Services will be Friday from 6-8 p.m., at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, Ludowici, GA 31316
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 8, 2018 at the Macedonia Baptist Church in Ludowici with the Rev. Victor C. Brewton, Eulogist.
In lieu of flowers, please contribute to the Elder Scholarship Fund, Ludowici/Glennville Bank.
