Sarah Leona West, affectionately known as "Bea," was born on August 5, 1941, in Riceboro, GA to the late Theodore and Edith Gordon. She passed away peacefully in her sleep on May 10, 2019 in her home.

Sarah, graduated from Liberty County High School in 1959. She began working at Rich's Sea Pak in Brunswick, GA from 1959 for 30+ years before retiring. She worked at Gordon Grocers, in Riceboro, GA. for several years. For the last 20 years, she worked as a cook for the Coastal Georgia Area C.A.A.

Sarah gave her life to Christ at an early age. She was baptized and a member of First Zion Baptist Church in Riceboro, Georgia for many years. Then, in 2002, she became one of the founding members of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Temple in Walthourville, Georgia, where she sang in the choir, was a member of the Pastor's Aide Committee where she served faithfully until her passing.

Sarah loved life and serving others. She is known to many as a Faithful Servant as she would always lend a helping hand. She will always be remembered for her infectious smile, gentle spirit and kind heart.

Sarah leaves to cherish her memories, five devoted sisters: Lena Griggs, Dorothy James and Jestine Gordon of Buffalo, New York; Catherine Jackson of Riceboro, GA; and Edith Gordon of Hinesville, GA; one daughter, Bernadine Gordon of Buffalo, NY; one grandson, James Gordon; a dedicated cousin, Albertha Lecounte; a special great-grandnephew, Tayveon Ricks and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

The visitation will be held on Friday, May 17, 2019 from 6:00-7:00 pm at the Dorchester Funeral Home in Midway, Georgia. The Homegoing Celebration is scheduled for Saturday, May 18, 2019 at 11:00 am at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Temple, 229 Thompson Road, Walthourville, Georgia 31333.
