Walter Lee Lockhart, Jr., 68, passed away Saturday, January 12, 2019 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Savannah.
Mr. Lockhart was a native of Welch, West Virginia who had lived in Long County for the past 14 years having moved here from Europe. He was born on September 4, 1950 to the late Walter Lee Lockhart, Sr. and Rosie Peak Lockhart. Mr. Lockhart was a graduate of Gary High School, Class of '69, in Gary, West Virginia. He was a retired veteran of the United States Army having served during the Vietnam Era, where he received numerous awards, ribbons and medals. Mr. Lockhart was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing and riding motorcycles. He will be missed by family and friends.
Survivors are: his wife of 18 years, Svetlana Lockhart of Long County; son, Lee Lockhart of Germany, son and daughter in law, James and Tiffany Lockhart of Jesup; daughter and son-in-law, Diana and Melvin Coates of Gloucester, Virginia; daughter, Anne Marie Grant of Hinesville, daughter, Ashley Skillet of Kentucky, daughter and son in law, Alexandria and James Patton of Florida; brother, Wallace (Mary Dawn) Lockhart of West Virginia; sister, Donna (Andy) Myers of Florida , sister, Helen Clemins of West Virginia; 14 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 17, 2019 from 10-11a.m. at the Thomas L. Carter Funeral Home in Flemington.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 17, 2019 at 11 a.m. at the Thomas L. Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Flemington. Burial will be at 1 p.m. in Glennville at the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery with military honors being rendered. Thomas L. Carter Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
