Mrs. Yvonne Halbur of Hinesville departed this life Sept. 9, 2013.
A native of Spencer, Iowa, Yvonne was born June 15, 1955, to the late Lavella and Louis Fuller. She also was preceded in death by her sister, Cindy Smith, and brother, Lynn Fuller.
She is survived by her husband of 41 years, Deacon Richard Halbur; two sons, Bryan Halbur and his wife, Terry, of Melbourne, Fla., and Brent Halbur and his wife, Stephanie, of Ratcliffe, Ky.; a daughter, Angela and her husband, Michael Amrine, of Hoover, Ala.; 11 grandchildren, Patricia and Brett Rivers, Lindsay, Nicholas and Lily Halbur, Christian Saxon, Megan and Adah Amrine, Austin and Cameron Stoyle, and Brendan and Jayden Halbur; and one great-granddaughter, Raelyn Rivers. She also is survived by one sister, Marcia Rogne of Loveland, Colo.
Yvonne and Rich married July 22, 1972, and spent the next 20 years traveling around the world as a U.S. Army family, finally settling in 1992 in Hinesville when Richard retired from the service.
Yvonne was an extremely hardworking person. She began her work as a candy striper at Spencer Hospital in Iowa, where she also worked part-time as a waitress at Stubb's Restaurant. She managed the local Blockbuster store in Hinesville for years and spent the past 19 years as a licensed practical nurse at Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah and Winn Army Community Hospital on Fort Stewart. She was, first and foremost, a caregiver to everyone.
Yvonne devoted much of her time to St. Stephen First Martyr Catholic Church in Hinesville, where her husband serves as a deacon. She was dedicated to the holy Rosary, divine mercy and community activities. Her smile and support will be missed there.
Yvonne's passions included the love of her life, her husband, Rich, along with their children and grandchildren. She enjoyed the beach, reading, her tuxedo cats, holidays and walking. She also loved healing and educating diabetics.
Her wake will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 12, at Carter Funeral Home Oglethorpe Chapel, 308 West Oglethorpe Drive, Hinesville.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 13, at St. Stephen First Martyr Catholic Church, 399 Woodland Drive, Hinesville, with Father Adam Kasela officiating.
Interment will be at Hinesville Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be sent to the St. Vincent DePaul Society, St. Stephen First Martyr Catholic Church.
Carter Funeral Home Oglethorpe Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.

To the Halbur family I will miss Mrs. Halbur terribly. I am a patient there in the clinic where she worked and she was always there to assist me. She was instrumental in my getting comfortable with the insulin pump. She was truly a kind and loving soul. My prayers are offered to all of you. May God be your strength and shield as you mourn the loss of a truly beautiful soul. I will miss her dearly. Mrs. Cooley

Dear Richard and Family,
I am praying for you! Jesus, I trust in You! So many people love and admire what you and Yvonne represent! Richard, I hope you find comfort from Sister Faustina as she followed God's command to bring to Me all devout and faithful souls, and immerse them in the ocean of My mercy. These souls brought Me consolation on the Way of the Cross. They were that drop of consolation in the midst of an ocean of bitterness. (Diary, 1214)

To the Halbur family,
I am so sorry for your loss. I feel so blessed to have known Yvonne for the past 2 years and what a friend she was. We shared many talks about God, Jesus, Family, and her church. It wasnt unusual to walk in my exam room and find a gift she had left for me, just because. I pray for peace and comfort. God Bless you all.

Rich and Family my prayers are with all of you, remember she will always LIVE in your hearts. Yvonne was a Kind, Giving, Energetic and Spiritual Friend. Before she transfered from Internal Medicine we would laugh and joke in the hall between Internal Medicine and Family Practice. When she transfered to Family Practice and I became one of her preceptors we laughed and joked even more! We cried together my last day working in Family Practice. She will always be remembered.

My Aunt Yvonne was one of the kindest souls that I have ever encountered. My memories of my Aunt are of love and kindness. I can remember her carrying me around when she was a teenager, dressing me up in a football helmet and her and my Aunt Marcia playing with me in the yard in Spencer Iowa. I remember her coming to our house in South Dakota and teaching my dad, my brother and I how to do things after my mother passed in 1984. Even during her own grief she still had the capacity to help and love us. I will miss her and my heart and prayers go out to my uncle and my cousins in this troubling time.
