AllanWayne Prokopow, age 40 died tragically onWednesday,
April 15, 2015, as a result of a motor vehicle accident in
Cochrane, Alberta.
Allan was born October 13, 1974, in The Pas, MB where
he grew up and graduated from Margaret Barbour
Collegiate in 1992. He obtained an EMT certification
at SAIT and then transferred to the University of
Calgary where he earned a Bachelor of Nursing
Degree. He started his nursing career in the ER at
the Peter Lougheed Centre. His next position was a
nurse at the Primary Care Network and at the time of his
death he was a Multidisciplinary Team Manager and had
almost completed a master's degree in Nurse Management
and Administration. Allan was loved and respected by his colleagues and
everyone whose life he touched. He was well known for his crazy sense of
humour and fun personality. He was a gentle giant and will be remembered
as an avid outdoorsman who was passionate about many sports both as a
participant and a fan, especially of the Boston Bruins. He was a fabulous
cook who liked to create new dishes and also enjoyed woodworking and
was instilling an interest in his children for both of these activities. He
loved to travel with friends and family and liked to garden with his girls.
Allan married the love of his life, Trina (nee Telfer), on August 15, 1998.
Together they had two beautiful daughters, Ainsley (11) and Brooke (9).
Allan was a dedicated fun-loving father and husband and was keenly
involved in his family's many interests by volunteering and being the most
enthusiastic cheerleader in the crowd. He was so very proud of his girls and
everything that they accomplished.
Besides his loving wife and daughters, Allan is survived by his parents Joe
and Joan Prokopow; his brother and sister-in-law, Roger and Andrea and
their children, Kamryn, Jackson, and Max. He is also survived by aunts and
uncles, Wendy and John Russell, Joanne Prokopow, Ken and Raz Pydee,
Susan and Ted Williams, and Lee Prokopow, and their families; mother-in-law
and father-in-law, Lyn and Ken Telfer; grandparents-in-law Mary Harrison,
James and Isabella Telfer; a close extended family and many friends.
Allan was predeceased by his grandparents, Anne and Mike Prokopow,
and Joyce and Bill Pydee; sister-in-law Kari Prokopow; two uncles, Bob
Prokopow and Rick Prokopow.
Funeral Services were held at St. Andrew's United Church (128 –
1st Street East Cochrane, AB), on Wednesday, April 22, 2015 at 11:00a.m.
