BIRCHALL, Elizabeth (Betty) Winnifred
(nee Hanes)
October 4, 1924 - December 3, 2015
Betty passed away peacefully at her home at the Edgemont
Retirement Residence on Thursday December 3rd, 2015 at the
age of 91 years.
She is lovingly remembered by her sons and their families Larry
and Ruth (Scott (Charis), Curtis (Jen), Tyson (Gail), Lauren);
Grant and Twila (Trevor (Nikki), Justin, Chantelle); Kent and
Anthea (Hamish, Rebecca) ; and her daughter in law and
family, Pat (Alexa, Stephanie) and eight great grandchildren.
Betty was predeceased by her husband of 58 years, Wes, her
eldest son, Brian, and her sisters Gertie Hawkwood and Lois
Betty was born near Seven Persons Alberta. She was raised in the Cochrane area
and married Wes in 1947. Wes and Betty farmed in the Lochend district for 50 years
where at various times they had beef cattle and dairy cattle.
Betty was a strong community supporter and was a charter member of the Lochend
Ladies Club. She was active in the Westbrook PTA, the Westbrook School fair and
was involved for many years with the St Andreas United Church in Cochrane.
In their retirement years Betty and Wes travelled the world.
A memorial service to celebrate Betty's life will be held at Parkdale United Church,
2918 - 8th Avenue NW, Calgary, at 2:00 PM Friday December 11, 2015.
Memorial donations may be made to the Cochrane and Area Humane Society.
