MORRIS, Vernon Noah
Vernon Noah Morris of Calgary, Alberta passed away at
the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre, Red Deer on
Tuesday, January 5, 2016 at the age of 87 years.
Vern joined the R.C.M.P. on December 10, 1946,
serving in Saskatchewan, Ontario, Manitoba and
British Columbia. Upon his retirement from the
R.C.M.P., he moved his family to Yellowknife,
Northwest Territories where he served as the Deputy
Sheriff. After leaving the north, Vern became the
Assistant Director of Law Enforcement and Inspector
of Jails with the Alberta Provincial Government. Vern and
Betty finally retired in 1987 when they moved to the Okanagan. In 1998
they returned to Alberta, the province he loved so much, and settled in
Cochrane. Vern was very much a people person who loved chatting with
everybody. He will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by everyone
whose life he touched.
Vern will be forever cherished in the hearts of his loving family:
his beloved wife of 63 years, Betty; and his two daughters:
Bette-Jo (Keith) Nesbitt of Parkland Beach, Alberta; and Debra Morris
Richards of Cochrane; as well as his treasured grandchildren: Braden
(Catherine), and Sarah; and his great grandson, Stetson. Vern was
predeceased by his father, Leonard; his mother, Jessie May; and one
sister, Norma Mooney.
With respect for Vern's wishes, no formal Funeral Service will be held at
this time. A Memorial Gathering will take place at a later date. Cremation
took place at the Central Alberta Crematorium, Red Deer, Alberta. If
friends desire, memorial tributes in Vern's Memory may be made directly
to the Cochrane and Area Humane Society, 62 Griffin Industrial Point,
