Fort Collins - David Wayne Drage, 83, of Fort Collins, died February 2, 2021, following a short illness. Dave was born to Charles and Catherine Drage on March 9, 1937 in Durango, Colorado. The family moved to Arvada when Dave was 4 and then to Fort Collins when he was 5 years old. While at Fort Collins High he lettered in wrestling, football and track, and graduated in the top 10% of his class. At CSU, he majored in Economics and was a member of the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity. Upon graduating, he received a commission as 2nd Lt in the Air Force in 1959. During the next ten years had 4 tours in Viet Nam, flying 1029 combat hours and 210 combat missions.
Dave married Sally Clements and they had two children, David and Sara, both deceased. In 1996, Dave met his "soul mate", Nancy Flory, and they were married in 1999. They had a joyful loving life together, painting, gardening, and hiking. They also enjoyed looking for interesting rocks and having fun together laughing. David enjoyed 33 years of sobriety as a friend of Bill W. In 1994, Dave went back to school to become a Psych physiologist, manifesting individual and couple psychotherapy and alcohol and drug counseling. He owned Biofeedback Services for 23 years, worked at New Beginnings 7 years, and Harmony Foundation for 11 years as a counselor, therapist and stress management educator. He retired at age 71.
Dave was a member of Peace with Christ Lutheran Church. Dave was preceded in death by his parents and his two children. He is survived by his wife Nancy, three step-children, three grandchildren and his brother, John and sister, Carla. Due to COVID restrictions, a service will be held later.
