Fort Collins - Mary Lou Selch, a native of Northern Colorado and longtime resident of Fort Collins passed away on January 2, 2020 peacefully at home. She was able to visit with all her children and grandchildren before her passing.

Mary Lou was born on January 27, 1933 to Harold Frank Doke and Rosalind N Nelson in Gill Colorado. The family later moved to the Fort Collins area where Mary Lou attended Fort Collins public schools and graduated from Fort Collins High School in 1951. She married her high school love, Philip J Selch on September 30, 1951. They enjoyed a joyful and happy marriage (52 years) until 2003 when Philip passed away.

Mary Lou enjoyed needlepoint (making beautiful Christmas stockings for all her children and spouses, grandchildren and great grandchildren), hiking, birdwatching, tending to her raspberry patch and making raspberry jam (many jars are still being enjoyed), square dancing, bowling and camping with family and friends. Most of all, she enjoyed each and every one of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren - always welcoming them with a smile and supporting their dreams and aspirations with sound advice.

Mary Lou retired from Colorado State University in 1994 after 25 years. She worked in the Interlibrary Loan department at CSU; she loved working there and made many lasting friendships. She traveled 48 states including Alaska with her husband at the wheel of a motorhome, always commenting that these were the happiest years of her life. After her husband's death in 2003, Mary Lou volunteered with the Visitors Center, Volunteers of America and many other local organizations over the years keeping very busy. She made several overseas trips and kept bowling on a league until her death, scoring an amazing 170 in the 2019 season.

She is survived by 3 children; a daughter, Karen Simpson (Phil) of Fort Collins, two sons, Kevin Selch (Lora) of Kerrville Texas, and Scott Selch (Konnie) of Fort Collins, 5 grandchildren; Jason Simpson, Randy Selch (Sarah), Andy Simpson (Bran), Erik Selch (Katelyn) and Tara Selch, and 6 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother Douglas Swan Doke.

A memorial Service will be held January 17 @11:00 am at Allnutt Funeral Service/Drake Road Chapel. Andrew Davies will officiate. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a .
