David Reagan Cox (61) passed away February 8, 2021 in Reno, Nevada
David was born in Lafayette, Louisiana January 12, 1960. As a child he moved with his family to Houston, Texas. He spent his younger years playing with his three sisters and neighbors in their backyard where his father had created a kid's paradise with a swing set, tire swing, treehouse and a jungle gym. Most weekends were spent swimming, fishing and boating at Tennwood Country Club.
In 1968, they moved to Lawrence, KS. where both parents attended University of Kansas for their Masters' Degrees. Afterwards, they moved to Wichita, KS and finally to Evergreen, CO which he considered his hometown. He loved to ski, hike, camp and dirt bike in the Rocky Mountains. He earned a Black Belt in Taekwondo by his junior year in Evergreen High School. He was also an accomplished clarinet player. He attended Wentworth Military Academy where he graduated high school in 1978 and competed his first year of college. He tranferred to University of Kansas where he lived at the Kappa Sigma house.
David moved to San Diego for a year and then back to Colorado. Although he loved Colorado, he retired first in Las Vegas and then Reno, Nevada.
He is survived by his father, Joseph P. Cox of Genesee, CO. his sisters Susan Cox Stevens of Breckenridge, CO., Cheryl Cox Lafon (Jean-Baptiste) of Colorado Springs, CO., and Cynthia Cox (Michael Trealoff) of Centennial, CO., his nephews Bradley Stevens ( Katie), Trevor Stevens and Michael Lafon, his nieces Paige Stevens and Lora Lafon, his great nephew and niece, Amy Jo and Reid Stevens.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Charlene W. Cox and his brother-in-law James David Stevens.
