Jonnie Sandoval passed away peacefully at her home in Fort Lupton, CO on January 14, 2021 with her family at her side. Jonnie was born on June 6, 1939 in Hoehne, Colorado to Arthur Montoya and Mandye Martinez Montoya.
Jonnie grew up with her parents, her sister Lil and many aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family members. She graduated from Hoehne High School and soon after married the love of her life Arthur (Art) Sandoval. The young couple headed north to Denver and in 1970 moved to Fort Lupton where they raised their children, Mona and Rick Sandoval.
She and Art became involved with the Fort Lupton Booster Club and she remained an avid supporter for many years. Jonnie loved her Fort Lupton community friends.
Over the years, Jonnie and Art provided a loving home for numerous children and she was known as Ma and Grandma to many.
Jonnie retired from Platte Valley Medical Center after 27 years of employment. During these years, she developed many long lasting friendships.
She loved hosting family gatherings and was known for her delicious Mexican cuisine and was always ready to join in a dance. Jonnie knew no strangers and was a friend to everyone with her beautiful smile and warm embrace.
Jonnie was Mom to Mona and Rick; Grandma to Kip Wittmus, Shawna Brown and Erin Claussen; and Great-Grandma to Jordan Campbell, Calvin Claussen and Christopher Claussen. She was God Mother to numerous nieces and nephews and was a special friend to D'Nae Coleman and Au'Tumn McGuigan. Jonnie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, her parents and her sister.
Jonnie will be laid to rest in a private ceremony at Hillside Cemetery, Fort Lupton, CO near her husband, mother and sister.
Per Jonnie's request, memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Weld County Boys and Girls Club, P.O. Box 812, Greeley, CO 80632, indicate Ft. Lupton and Jonnie's name on memo line.
