Lifelong Lafayette, Colorado resident Dorothy Barber passed away Thursday, January 24, 2019 in Louisville, Colorado. She was 88 years old. She was born Dorothy Lee Moon on August 22, 1930 in Boulder, Colorado, the daughter of Caroline (Sneddon) and Albert Moon. Dorothy grew up in Lafayette, Colorado and graduated from Lafayette High School in 1948. After high school she attended the Barnes Business School and then went to work at Denver Dry Goods. She also worked for a short time at the Lafayette Grade School in the cafeteria. On January 7, 1951, Dorothy was united in marriage to Harry Joseph Barber at the First Baptist Church in Lafayette. Knitting and traveling were among Dorothy's favorite hobbies. She and Harry made some memorable trips and cruises to the British Isles, the Panama Canal and Alaska. She loved knitting blankets and sweaters for her grandchildren. She also enjoyed watching all the Denver professional sports teams play. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was an accomplished cook who made incredible pies that were enjoyed by all at our family gatherings. Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband Harry, her son David Eugene Barber and siblings, Albert LeRoy Moon and Margaret Elizabeth Gibson. Surviving family members include her son Terry Barber and his wife Sandra Winslow-Barber and her daughter Susan Tesone and her husband Gary. She is survived by her grandchildren Dan Tesone, Scott Tesone and his wife Martine, and four great-grandchildren, Aiden Tesone, Ethan Tesone, Owen Tesone, and Wesley Tesone. Dorothy was a wonderful mother, grandmother, wife, and friend to many. She was most dearly loved. The love, generosity and caring she shared with all of us will be greatly missed. There will be a visitation with the family on Tuesday, January 29, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Darrell Howe Mortuary in Lafayette. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, January 30, at 2:00 p.m. at Mountain View Memorial Park in Boulder. Water isn't wet because it is a liquid that wets things. Once you come into contact with water you become wet. Until then water is liquid and you are dry.
