Jeanette Simonson of Boulder, Colorado passed away peacefully, surrounded by love and family after a short and sudden illness on September 17, 2018. Jeanette was born in Detroit, Michigan and later lived in Florida and California before making her longtime home in Boulder Colorado. Prior to marrying the love of her life, Wayne Simonson, Jeanette was a legal secretary and avid skier. Jeanette was the loving mother to 6 children, grandmother to 10 children, and aunt to numerous nieces and nephews. Jeanette earned her BS in Nursing from Regis University in 1992 and continued her dedication to service by driving a UN convoy in Yugoslavia during the Bosnian war. She volunteered with the Red Cross and the Critical Incident Stress Management Team. Jeanette was a giving friend and a generous and compassionate contributor to her community who also lent her time, talent and treasure to Right to Life, Caring Pregnancy Center, feeding the homeless, sewing quilts for babies and various Catholic organizations. Jeanette taught nursing at Front Range Community College, and worked as a nurse for for Carmel Healthcare and Passport Health. She was proceeded in death by her mother and father, Gertrude and Walter Desser, brothers George and James Desser, sister Elizabeth Desser, husband Wayne and son John. She is survived by her brother Tom Desser and her sister Marilynn Pankratz; her children: Theresa (Bill), Mary (Jason), Andy (Bonnie), Thomas (Carlotta), Elizabeth (Jack), and grandchildren. Mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday, September 26 at 10 am at Immaculate Conception Church, located at 715 Cabrini Drive, Lafayette. Reception will immediately follow at the church. Rosary and celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, September 25 at 7 pm also at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Abbey of St. Walburga, located at 1029 Benedictine Way, Virginia Dale, CO 80536. Please note Jeanette's name on the donation.
