William Stanish Obituary
William E. Stanish, age 93 of Lafayette, passed away peacefully on November 2, 2018 at his home in Lafayette. He grew up in Lafayette and graduated from Lafayette High School in 1943 before joining the Merchant Marines. He was honorably discharged in August 1945 after the war. Following his time of military service, William joined the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Union in 1952. He was a member for 65 years and worked on various construction projects in the Denver area. In 1960, William married his high school sweetheart, Marjorie Lawson, and the two were blessed with a son, Mark. William was also a dedicated farmer his entire life and enjoyed the opportunity working with his son. He also loved restoring Model T cars and making the occasional trip to Blackhawk. Preceding William in death were his parents, his loving wife of 51 years, Marjorie, and his siblings, Frances, Mary, Joseph and Dorothy. William is survived by his son Mark and his wife Lucie, his grandchildren Kyle and Kimberly and one sister Josie Mosnik. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews including Cynthia Lawson, who was a caregiver in his later years. Family and friends will gather at Darrell Howe Mortuary in Lafayette on Thursday, November 8, 2018 at 6:00 PM for a visitation. The Rosary will be said at 7:30 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, November 9, 2018 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Lafayette. Burial will follow in the Lafayette Cemetery.
