HARRY ALLAN "AL" INGALLS February 23, 1935 ~ December 25, 2015 Al Ingalls passed away peacefully at 80 years of age on Christmas day. He was born Feb. 23, 1935 in Monticello, KY to Lucille and Harry J. Ingalls. His family moved to Bainbridge Island, WA where spent most of his childhood until his senior year of high school when they moved to Monroe, WA. Al attend the University of Washington and graduated with a B.A. in Business in 1961. While attending the U of W, he rowed on crew his freshman year, and was an active member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity, where he served two years as house president. In 1958, Al married love of his life, Sharon Walker, and together they had four children. After college graduation, he went to work for Safeco Insurance and moved to Portland, OR. In 1966, he moved his family to Vancouver, WA and went to work for Atkinson Insurance Agency. Al later became a co-owner of the agency and the name was changed to Atkinson, Millar & Ingalls (AMI). Coaching his sons in Hazel Dell Little League, and then as a sponsor and manager of AMI Senior Babe Ruth, kept him involved in baseball for a number of years. After selling his share of AMI, he took a few years off to enjoy time with his grandson, his yard, hunting and fishing. The last 10 years of his career, Al and a partner formed Realty Exchangers, where they specialized in doing 1031 exchanges which he truly enjoyed. Family was very important part of his life, as well as his hunting big game, fishing, and restoring classic muscle cars. At the time of his death he proudly owned a 1954 Pontiac, the same car he bought new when in college. Al supported local fish and wildlife organizations and started the first chapter of Ducks Unlimited in Vancouver. Throughout their marriage of 57 years, Al and Sharon traveled often and were happy to have shared their travels with many friends and family. Al will be loved and missed by his wife, Sharon; children, Debra Ingalls (Chuck), Laurel Wiant (Jim), Gary Ingalls; grandson, Bradley Cheshire; and many friends. He was preceded in death by his sister, Shirley Clarke; and son, Brad Ingalls. A private memorial is planned with family at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. At Al's request there will be no funeral service. The family plans a Celebration of Life at a later date. It's hard to say goodbye to a friend of 61+ years. I met Al in 1954, when we were freshman in college and joined the same fraternity. Our friendship grew closer when we both moved to Vancouver, WA. Many happy memories were made over shared campfires on our hunting and fishing trips. Our love to you Sharon, Debbie, Laurel, Gary and your families.

Grandpa I am very sad you are gone, but I am thankful for the time we had together. I will always remember the times we shared talking about cars, sports, and hunting. You helped to make me into the man I am today. You meant a lot to me and so many othersmay you now rest in peace. I love you.

I only knew Al for a couple of years late in his life. We grew to be close friends and enjoyed our cars, breakfast out, and a good doughnut! Al was a "Great" car guy, having had many cars over the years including Javelins, AMX's, a Ford Galaxy show car, and many others.
His last great project being the beautiful yellow and white, 1954 Pontiac Chieftain 2 dr. hardtop that he restored to perfection, and presented to the Love of his life, his lovely wife Sharon. The 1954 Pontiac having special meaning, being the car he purchased new in college and dated Sharon in, back in the 50's. He told me it was Love at first sight the first time he saw her, and there was no other, ever! I know Al had a full life and wore many hats throughout his life, being a loving husband and father, had multiple career's, hunter, fisherman, and so much more. Loved by many, he is missed dearly by all. Rest in Peace my friend.

It's hard to say goodbye to a friend of 61+ years.
I met Al in 1954, we were freshman in college and joined the same fraternity. A few years later we both had moved to Vancouver, WA., where we enjoyed many fishing, hunting and camping trips together. The good times and stories shared over our campfires are very dear to me.

Sharon, Debbie, Laurel, Gary and families, you are very dear to me and are always in my prayers.
