Abondio was born July 12, 1930, to Pablo and Eulalia Ybarra, he is one of 12 sons. He grew up in Weld County area and attended Gilcrest High School and was a member of the basketball team for two years.
He enlisted in the U.S. Army, was a very proud Korean war veteran. After his tour of duty, he settled in Commerce City and married his wife, Bertha Rodriguez, in 1956. They resided in Commerce City until 2015.
Abondio and his wife have been parishioners of Our Lady Mother of the Church since 1958, and he was a charter member of The Knights of Columbus 6769 council. Yogi retired from the United States Denver Mint after 26 years of loyal service.
Survivors include his loving wife of 61 years; a son, Reuben Ybarra of Littleton; a daughter, Susan Fisher, and spouse, Rod Fisher; a daughter, Charlene Barela, and spouse, Alfonso Barela, of Thornton; five wonderful grandchildren, Kimberly Wallace and spouse Jamie Wallace, of Broomfield, Dion Barela of Springfield, Virginia, Melissa Barela, Ryan Fisher, Mitchell Barela and great-granddaughter Raea Fisher, of Thornton.
His parents; his brothers, Manual, Antonio, NIck, Edward, Tony, Cecil, Secondino, Nash and Ernie, who passed the same day as Abondio, preceded him in death.
We miss you already Yogi, see you when we are united again in heaven.

I my sorry for your loss,I am so lucky to be such good friends with your family .I remember those great times watching your dad sing his heart out while my dad played the guitar they both loved singing. Now they are both reunited in the gates of heaven.
