Foster A. Jones III, 63 of Germantown, passed peacefully on September 2, 2013, after an extended illness. Born in Memphis to the late Foster A. Jones Jr., and Elizabeth Joyce "Jackie" Child Jones, Foster was raised on Signal Mountain, TN. He attended parochial schools, graduating from Chattanooga City High; then Tennessee Wesleyan College. As a founding member of Boy Scout Troop 176 he attained the rank of Eagle Scout. He was also a member of Phi Sigma Kappa Fraternity where he held several offices. Foster is survived by his beloved childhood sweetheart and wife, Sue L. "Sandy" Jones together for 49 years; his two loving children - Kristin Ann Jones-Getman of Cordova, TN, and Foster A. Jones IV of Lee Vining, CA; two sisters, Mrs. Mary J. Arnold of Peaks Island, ME, and Ms. Linda J. Whitsett of Roanoke, VA, father in law, Edwin G. Lansford of Crossville, TN; along with daughter-in-law Catherine Jones and son-in-law Jeremy Getman and several nieces and nephews. He had a 35 year career with First Tennessee Bank / First Horizon National Corporation holding numerous positions; both in Chattanooga, then transferring to Memphis in 1987. He was a graduate of Tennessee Young Banker's School, at Vanderbilt University as well as the Bank Administration Institute at the University of Wisconsin at Madison. He was a member of the American Banking Association where he served as an officer and instructor for the Chattanooga, TN chapter. He was a 10-gallon blood donor and gave platelets until he became ill. He enjoyed camping and watersports. He was an artist and enjoyed drawing cartoons. He was loving, helpful, friendly and kind to everyone. Those that knew him will remember that special twinkle in his eyes. He loved his wife and children dearly. He is best known for being the number one fan for the University of Tennessee VOLS. Go Big Orange! Visitation in Memphis will be 5-7 p.m., Thursday, September 5, at Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Avenue. Visitation in Crossville will be 1-2 p.m. followed by Celebration of Life services at 2 p.m., Saturday, September 7 at Bilbrey Funeral Home, 76 East Adams Street. I was so glad to see the mention of Foster's "twinkle in his eyes" in his obituary as that is my fondest memory of him from the first time we met when you came to Memphis from Chattanooga. He was a joy to work with and was missed by many of us when he left the bank. May God bring peace to his family.

I worked with Foster at First Tennessee Bank in Chattanooga. He was always so willing to help and such a kind friendly person. I am so saddened to hear of his passing.
I just lost my husband to cancer in May and my heart goes out to you and the family.
