Reverend Albert M. Boysen, Jr.

Memphis, TN

Reverend Albert M. Boysen, Jr., 83 of Memphis, TN, passed peacefully into his eternal reward on Saturday, March 25, 2017 at home. Born in Houston, TX to Albert M. Boysen, Sr. and Minnie Legde Boysen, he served the Lord Jesus Christ faithfully in ministry of His Word for 58 years. He graduated and received his Master's Degree from Concordia Seminary and met the love of his life, Patricia Ann Boysen while serving his vicarage in Detroit, MI. Al's ministry started by serving congregations in Sulpher Springs, Clarksville and Paris, TX simultaneously from 1958-1961. He then served Faith Lutheran Church in Tullahoma, TN from 1961-1975. He was called to Immanuel Lutheran in Memphis where he served for 23 years. While living in Tullahoma he served on several civic committees and was elected "Young Man of the Year" by the Tullahoma Jaycees. He also served in several positions with the Mid-South District of The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod. Al never missed a chance to witness to others the love of Jesus. He was a faithful husband, father, and minister. He is survived by his wife of 58 years and best friend, Patricia and his sister Bernice Procopio. Al was extremely loving and proud of his three sons, Steven, Michael and his wife Gayle and their children, Samuel and Grace, and Christopher Boysen and wife Lisa and their son, Zachary, and great grandchildren, Adelaie and Silas all of Memphis, TN. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Elsie Marie Schmitt. The family will receive friends on Monday, March 27 from 5 - 7 p.m. and his Celebration of Life service will take place at 3 p.m. Tuesday, March 28, both to be held at Christ the King Lutheran Church, 5296 Park Avenue. Memorial donations may be made in Al's name to a church of the donor's choice, , Honors/Memorials 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, or Concordia Seminary, 801 Seminary Place, St. Louis, MO 63105.
