Ann Yarbrough Mitchell

Ann Yarbrough Mitchell, a longtime community volunteer, passed away at Trezevant Manor on August 22, 2017 at the age of 98. She was involved in various community organizations, having been a member of Second Presbyterian Church for over 70 years and serving as President of the PTA at East High School while her children were enrolled there. Additionally, she was involved in and served as President of a local chapter of PEO, a non-profit that advocates for the educational advancement of women. Her hobbies included needlepoint and genealogy, the latter of which led to her involvement with the Daughters of the American Revolution, Daughters of 1812, and Early Settlers of Tennessee. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, W.O. Mitchell, a local real estate broker who served as President of the National Institute for Real Estate Brokers, to whom she was married for 64 years, and her son, Daniel Thomas Mitchell of Phoenix, Arizona.

She is survived by two daughters, Betty Mitchell Anderson (Bill) of Atlanta, GA and Ann Mitchell Campbell (Jim) of Columbus GA, a sister, Margaret Y. Moffett of Dallas, Texas; six grandchildren, Daniel T. Mitchell II, Margaret B. Mitchell, William Anderson IV, Elizabeth Thompson, James N. Campbell III and Reed T. Campbell, and six great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be 10 a.m. Friday, August 25, at Memorial Park Cemetery.
