Germantown, TN.

Billy "Bill" McCollum Burrow, 85, of Germantown, TN, passed away September 21, 2017 at the Baptist Reynolds Hospice Care. He was the husband of 21 years of Katie Burrow. He grew up on a farm in Huntingdon, TN, the son of Ocie and Nelle Burrow, and graduated from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. He retired as a lieutenant commander in the U.S. Navy after 20 years' service. He was also retired from the Memphis Airport Authority where he served as the director of planning and development.

Bill was active in his church, Germantown Presbyterian, where he served as a Stephen Minister.

He enjoyed playing the piano, traveling with his wife and writing. His life's work has been four books about his beloved Elrod Loop, an old west character.

In addition to his wife, he leaves a daughter, Dorothea of Chattanooga; a son, Christopher of Grants Pass, Oregon; a step-daughter, Elizabeth (Michael) Spurgeon of Nashville, and a step-son, Douglas England of Altamont Springs, FL. He leaves six grandchildren: Kit (Brande) of Burleson, TN; Cody of Seattle, Wash.; Kristiana of Portland, Oregon; William, John and Betsy Spurgeon of Nashville, TN; and two great-grandchildren, Banks and Whitten Burrow, of Burleson. A memorial service will be held at Germantown Presbyterian Church at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, September 24 with reception following. Inurnment at West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery at a later date.
