Bryan Scott Jackson

October 30, 1972 - September 11, 2020

Dr. Bryan Scott Jackson, 47, died Friday when his private plane crashed just east of Jackson, TN on his way home alone from Dickson.

Bryan was born in Memphis and graduated from Bartlett High School in 1990. He graduated from Christian Brothers University in 1994 and, pursuing the interest in medicine that he had from a young age, attended the University of Tennessee Health Science Center where he received his degree as a Medical Doctor in 1999. He was on staff at St. Francis Hospital Bartlett for 15 years, where he had previously served as Chief of Surgery and was named Physician of the Year in 2016. When he wasn't on duty, Bryan enjoyed spending time with his large family in Bartlett and on Greer's Ferry Lake in Arkansas where they often gathered to ski and swim.

Bryan was a spiritual man who often prayed with his patients, asked family to pray for his strength and endurance when he was facing a difficult surgery and delivered eulogies for his grandparents, Harold and Margarette King. Those left behind to cherish his memory are his parents, Jim and Shirley Jackson; brother, Kevin Jackson; nephews Parker, Caden and Braylin Jackson; his aunt, Brenda Pilant (Doug) and uncle, Brad King (Vicky) all of Bartlett and many members of his extended family in TN and TX.

The family will receive visitors from 5:00 - 8:00pm on Thursday, Sept. 17th at Ellendale Baptist Church at 3861 Broadway Rd. in Bartlett. Dr. Jackson's Funeral Service will also be at Ellendale Baptist on Friday, Sept 18th at 1:00pm. The family requests that attendees wear masks and observe social distancing guidelines due to Covid19. The service will be live-streamed beginning at 12:45pm on the "Ellendale Baptist Church YouTube Channel" (https://m.youtube.com/channel/UCaWu4h0BJffFIMA0MMljGMg/featured).

In lieu of flowers, you may send a memorial contribution to the Dr. Bryan Jackson Scholarship Fund at Bartlett City Schools, 5705 Stage Road, Bartlett, TN 38134. To leave an online remembrance, go to www.brenttaylorfuneraldirectors/obituaries/memorywall.

I would like to say thank you, thank you, thank you, Dr. Bryan, for saving my life this past January 12, 2020. I came into the emergency room of St. Francis, in such horrible pain, I couldn't stop screaming out in pain. Dr. Bryan was called in to do emergency surgery on me. He saved my life. He was a gift from God and a wonderful person. May God Bless and Rest his sweet spirit in peace and in Heaven. Julia and Glen Burch.

As I read the remarks posted, I realize Dr. Jackson was not only my hero, but he was a hero to so many others.

Dr. Jackson was truly a great christian doctor, and he saved my life in 2012. I truly believe that the Lord guided his hands -- and now he is in the hands of our Lord.

May God bless and comfort the Jackson family, his staff - Amy and Courtney, his coworkers at St. Francis, his patients and friends.

Dr.Jackson waa one of the sweetest men with a big heart and a dedecation to his work and a life which showed his Christian values.. He preformed my double hernia surgery in May of this year. And when I later had another problem that I to go to the hospital for an emergency Dr. Jackson saw to my problems and made sure I was given the best of care. He personaly brought my personal items to me when I was made aware that I needed someone to care. He showed the hands and heart of JESUS to me. We will always remember Dr. Bryan .

Bryan was family. I knew him long before he was Dr. Jackson, but I knew he would be a wonderful doctor because of his kind, gentle spirit and his genuine compassion and concern for others. I can tell from reading comments from his patients and co-workers that I was correct. My heart is heavy thinking about this great loss for our family, but I'm trying to focus on the blessing of knowing him--even if only for a short 47 years. May we find comfort in our memories and feel the peace that surpasses all understanding in the days to come.

Bryan Jackson was a STAR in the Jackson, King, Daughtrey families as well as in the hearts of all that knew him. Bryan loved life; he saved many. Not only did he save physical lives, but spiritual lives. His witness to patients, friends,
family.....it did not matter......he was a witness for Jesus, by just being himself. Grandmother Margarette and Papa
Harold are glowing in Heaven as Bryan joined them. What a joy.....what a blessing to have just known this Godly, compassionate, loving, sweet boy/ man. He will always be truly adored by his family....their hearts swell with pride. He is gone from all of us too soon, but our love follows him to the forever of our Lord. We will carry his memory within us and can be thankful for every moment he was on this earth. May knowing how much everyone loved him, somehow help comfort you. The void cannot be filled, but precious memories are with you always. God strengthen us all, is my prayer.

Ms Shirley and family- You are in my prayers during this difficult time.
I can't imagine your heartache. Although I only knew Bryan as my Dr, but have known you, Brad and Brenda for ever, I know he must have been a great man outside of his profession. May you feel GOD's reassurance and comfort today and in the coming days. In HIS love......

Dr Jackson was my parathyroid surgeon. What I liked about him was that he would cater to your every need. He did not want his patients to be in any pain. I remember he called me to prescribe me medicine after my surgery. He remind me of the old school doctors who would visit your home, you just don’t find doctors like that anymore. I just want to tell his parents you raised a very good son well and you should be PROUD. Thank you for allowing him to do my surgery. Family take care and stay safe.

Dr Jackson was a great doctor,I was afraid to have my hernia surgery and I asked him are you going to take care of me because I'm afraid I said am I going to be ok and he assured me that he was going to and to not be afraid,I trusted him and I am alright I remember everyday when he would make his rounds I would be happy to see him, but now he's gone to work for God I miss him so much his staff are awesome and polite, his nurse Courtney would always make you feel welcome,I'm still in disbelief that he's really gone I can see his smiling face every time I mention his name,I've driven by the office several times because he should be there waiting to see his patients,my prayers and thoughts to his family and friends and patients Dr Bryan Jackson I miss you so much,RIP my doctor

My daughter, Jo Marie Follin Ferrell, who, also, attended Bartlett High School and graduated in ‘88, was a patient of Dr. Jackson in January of 2007. She was gravely ill, and he operated and saved her life. He was a caring surgeon who looked in on my daughter often. He always took the time to answer our questions. A wonderful doctor saved a wonderful daughter, sister, wife , and mother. We will be forever grateful to him. Our prayers and love , Josephine Patton Follin Bartlett, Tn

This is heartbreaking. He was an amazing man and an even more amazing doctor. He saved my life six years ago and went on to perform 3 more surgeries on me throughout those years with the last being 2 years ago. I will never understand why amazing people like this are taken so soon from this earth, but, I will never forget his kindness and strength. The void he leaves will never be filled. I pray for his family, both by blood and chosen. I pray for Courtney and Amy. And I pray for his patients.
