Charles Vanderford "Van" Daniel, 34, passed away on March 17, 2017 at his home in Hernando, MS. He was born August 7, 1982 in Memphis, TN, the son of Leroy and Elaine (Thibaut) Daniel. He attended Hernando public schools, and in 2000 graduated from Hernando High School, where he was voted Most Likely to Succeed.

Van made news in the mid-1990s as a stock-picking prodigy with an early investment in AOL. From childhood, he was a loyal patron, volunteer, and eventually, a staff member of First Regional Library, Hernando. In New York City, Van attended Columbia University and worked in the editorial department of Condé Nast travel website Concierge.com. He later served as a Genius at Apple's flagship store on Fifth Avenue.

Van enjoyed following politics, technological trends, popular music, and contemporary culture. He was a photographer, poet, and self-trained visual artist, who created intricate, small-scale drawings in pencil. He leaves behind wonderful memories of his wit, intelligence, contagious sense of humor, and his kindness with all who knew him.

Van is survived by his mother, Elaine Daniel of Hernando; brother, Ricky Lee Daniel and sister, Roxanne Daniel Jones of Covington, TN; brother, Carl Edward Daniel, wife Jennifer, and brother, Robert Victor Daniel of Hernando; nieces, Ryleigh, Carly, Bailee, Rachel, and Natalie; and nephews, Jeremy, Ryan, Layton, and Phoenix. He is also survived by many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and his fiancé, Justin Burgess of Nashville, TN. He was preceded in death by his father, Leroy Daniel.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 17 at 2 p.m. at the Club House at Woodland Lakes, 11450 2nd Lakeview Cove, Hernando, Miss. Condolences may be sent to The Daniel Family, c/o Mrs. Elaine Daniel, 11197 Woodland Lake Drive, Hernando, MS 38632.
