Charlie Mae Rogers Reed was born September 15, 1933 in the Woodstock Community of Shelby County, TN to Charlie "Jack" and Susie Mae Smith Rogers. She gained her wings on October 4, 2017 encircled by her dear family. She grew up in Campbell Chapel A.M.E. Church and was a member of Morning View Baptist Church for over 55 years, where she served as chairman of the Trustee Board.

She was a graduate of Woodstock High School c/o 1951. In 1955, with a degree in elementary education from LeMoyne College, she taught at several elementary schools and retired from Alton Elementary after 38 years of service.

She was predeceased by her mother, father, and two sisters, Bobbie Rogers Carpenter and Gertrude Rogers Wright.

She was married to the "love of her life", Mack Henry Reed. October 5, 2017 would have been their 61st anniversary.

She leaves to cherish her memory children, DaMita Reed Hameen (Basim) and Dr. Jarvis DeWayne Reed (Dr. Patrice); grandchildren, Jarred Reed, Jessica Reed, Jordan Reed, Jason Reed, Aliyah Hameen and Sultan Hameen; brothers, Jackie Ray Rogers (Nellie) and Jessie Lee Rogers; sisters, Laverne Rogers Williams (Ezell), Cecile Rogers Mitchell and Shirley Rogers Hill; and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Charlie Mae will be remembered for her remarkable spirit, her generosity and her legacy of helping others. Helping was her greatest passion, whether teaching a struggling child to read or providing food for needy families.Her generosity was endless.

Funeral services were held Saturday October 7th. Interment will be Wednesday, October 11th at 10 a.m. in West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Charlie Mae's name to LeMoyne-Owen College, Morning View Baptist Church or the Mack & Charlie Mae Reed Scholarship Fund, Eureka Chapter No. 241.
