David L. Foster died January 10, 2017 at Methodist University Hospital. He was predeceased by his parents Dr. Robert Cletus Foster and Leona Welborn Foster and a brother Robert Foster of Thomasville, NC. He was born in Leaksville, NC on September 20, 1937.

David graduated from Wake Forest University with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1959. After teaching high school biology, he found a long term avocation in Information Technology.

He and his wife Linda moved to Memphis from Atlanta in 2002. David found joy in volunteering and running the goodie cart at St. Francis Hospital Park Avenue. He transitioned to being a docent for the Pink Palace Museum where he loved and was loved by many. He was a long term member of the Friends of the Pink Palace. During that time, he also volunteered at the Memphis Public Library.

David is survived by his wife Linda Acree Foster of Memphis and his daughter Garnet Foster King, her husband Steve and grandchildren Justus Jackson King and Chloe Grace King of Lilburn, GA. He is also survived by his father-in-law and mother-in-law Robert E. and Juanita T. Acree and sister-in-law and brother-in-law Ellen and Jim Ingram, all of Memphis.

On Sunday, January 15, 2017, a catered memorial reception will be from 2:00-3:30 p.m. with a memorial service from 3:30-4:00 p.m. at Canale Funeral Directors, 2700 Union Avenue Extended.
