Don Ray Wood Obituary
Don Ray Wood

Germantown, TN

Surrounded by his family, Don Ray Wood of Germantown, Tennessee lost his battle with cancer on Sunday, May 13 at the Methodist Hospice Residence. Don, more fondly known by all as "Bobo", is survived by his wife, Beverly Arthur Wood, his son John Thomas Wood (Michelle) and daughters Suzanne McCarthy (Michael) and Laurie Connell (Roger). Bobo also leaves sweet memories with his grandchildren, Michael Paul Simmers, Jr., (Jessica) Jennifer Ray Wood, Sarah Katherine Wright, John Thomas Wood (Shayna), Stephen Thomas Simmers, Joseph Andrew Simmers, Elizabeth Connell Alford (Clint), Aden Collier Wood, Samuel Harrison Connell and four precious great-grandchildren.

Don is preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Howard Thomas Wood and Jennie Link Wood of Memphis and his brothers Howard Trent Wood of Tulsa Oklahoma and Jerry Link Wood of Memphis and granddaughter Amanda Jane Wood.

Don was an avid outdoorsman and loved hunting, fishing and had an exceptional love for open water sport fishing in the Florida Keys! He instilled that same passion in his children and grandchildren. He was well known in the investment business and was a mentor to many. He was one of the original founders of UMIC and Wood Brothers Peebles Investments. He also helped to establish Sanderlin Securities before retiring in 2009.

Don was a member at Redeemer Evangelical Church where he sang in the choir for a short period.

With much gratitude, our family would like to thank our sweet friends and family for the out pouring of love and prayers. We also send many thanks to the precious team at the Methodist Hospice Residence and request that in lieu of flowers, any memorials be made to the program through the Methodist Healthcare Foundation in memory of Dad.

We will celebrate Bobo on Thursday, May 17, 2018 at Redeemer Evangelical Church at 3100 S. Houston Levee Rd. Visitation is at 5pm with a celebration to follow at 6pm.
